ABC breakfast duo Matthew Abraham and David Bevan are clinging to their number one spot in the radio ratings after a second consecutive drop.
The latest GFK survey out today shows ABC 891 losing listeners in all shifts, apart from Peter Goers’ weekday evening show.
In breakfasts, long-dominant Abraham and Bevan retain the lead but their rivals are snapping at their heels. In the survey released in June, the duo attracted a huge 18.4 per cent of listeners but they have lost traction in the two surveys since then.
In the survey released today, the ABC breakfast team lost 2.0 percentage points to fall from 16.1 to 14.1, with Mix102.3 increasing from 12.0 to 13.6.
FIVEaa breakfasts has fallen from second to third spot, dropping half a point to 13.4.
Triple M had a strong breakfast survey, increasing from 9.0 to 10.2.

Overall, Mix.103 has increased its lead at the top of the ratings, followed by Nova and FIVEaa in a dead heat for second. ABC891 comes next but with a narrowing lead over Cruise and resurgent Triple M.
It wasn’t a great survey for Nova, which lost outright second position with falls in breakfast, mornings and afternoon shifts.
hit107 continued to recover from its rock bottom position earlier in the year to come next in the pecking order, putting on 1.1 percentage points to overtake ABC youth station Triple J.
hit107 has had a rocky road since it was rebranded from SAFM last year, but it put on listeners across the shifts with Drive (led by the return of comedy duo Andy Lee and Hamish Blake in the latter part of the ratings period) and Evenings particularly strong.
hit’s breakfast team also clawed back some listeners, but still has a lot of work to do.
