Veteran batsman Callum Ferguson will be aiming to post a big score to help save his side when South Australia’s Sheffield Shield clash with Western Australia resumes on Tuesday.
The Redbacks enter the final day precariously placed at 4-147 – an overall lead of just eight – with Ferguson on 60 and Alex Ross on one.
South Australia appeared destined for defeat after slumping to 3-52 late on Monday, but a 92-run stand between Travis Head (62) and Ferguson has given them hope of securing at least a draw.
Ferguson says even a win isn’t out of the question, but his first mission is to ensure the Redbacks don’t succumb to defeat.

“As a batter, when you get to 60, you want to make sure you go on and post a big one and do the right thing by the team,” Ferguson said.
“I’ll be looking to do that.
“Looking at the wicket, it’s still conducive to run-scoring. By all means we won’t be coming out swinging.
“But we’ll look to play good cricket and reassess the situation at lunch.”
