The footbridge over the River Torrens is days away from completion, with lights and water features to be turned on for the first time on Saturday.
Free festivities will be held to celebrate the official completion of the bridge on Saturday with live entertainment, pop-up bars, food and market stalls.
Planning Minister John Rau and Infrastructure Minister Stephen Mullighan urged football fans to turn up to the celebrations before heading to the Adelaide vs. North Melbourne game that evening.
Celebrations will begin at 3pm before an LED lighting scheme illuminates the bridge from 6:05pm.
“The visual impact of the bridge’s glass cladding, water and light features make this a showpiece for the Torrens Lake,” said Mullighan.
“This is more than just a crossing – we have created a piece of infrastructure that has transformed the Riverbank Precict, and opened up the CBD.”
Rau said the $40 million dollar bridge would contribute to the revitalisation of the Riverbank Precinct.
“As the focal point of our great park, this bridge has changed the way we access the riverbank and its wonderful attractions, including the redeveloped Adelaide Oval, Convention Centre and the Festival Centre,” he said.
