Weâre still in the thick of this yearâs Adelaide Cabaret Festival, but look ahead to next year when Virginia Gay will be 2024âs artistic director.

A popular face on Australian screens, Virginia Gay is known for roles in All Saints, Winners and Losers, ABCâs Savage River and SBSâs A Safe Home.
She is fresh from hosting the sold-out opening night of the Cabaret Festivalâs Variety Gala at the Festival Theatre, and was announced as the 2024 festival artistic director at Mark Nadlerâs Hootenanny show on Saturday night.
âAdelaide Cabaret Festival is a place where I have had the most nourishing, the most extraordinary performance experiences of my life and where I have witnessed, and performed alongside, world-class Australian acts and international stars,â says Gay.
âI love Adelaide audiences and their openness and willingness to see new work â their warm embracing presence and response to this beloved festival is just the most amazing feeling.
âIâm so excited for 2024 â for the game-changing iconic acts, for the up-and-comers who I know youâre going to love. Iâm proud, Iâm honoured and Iâm so looking forward to delivering a 2024 program that will blow your socks off.â
